More than 350 realtors have attended our two-day intensive seminar on
historic houses and received the Preservation Dallas Historic House Specialist
designation. Through the seminar, Preservation Dallas assists realtors in their
efforts to promote intown Dallas neighborhoods.
Attendees participate in presentations by local experts such as Virginia
McAlester, author of A Field Guide to American Houses, and Carol Roark, Dallas
Public Library archivist and author of Fort Worth’s Legendary Landmarks. An
orientation to the Preservation Dallas Intown Living Center with its displays and
information on more than 160 intown neighborhoods is also included. A bus tour
of historic neighborhoods and conservation districts brings the information to
life and concludes the seminar.
Past seminar participants have come from firms such as Ebby Halliday, David
Griffin, Henry S. Miller, Coldwell Banker - Paula Stringer, Briggs-Freeman,
Campbell Monger, Abio & Associates, Adleta & Poston, Century 21 Judge Fite,
Ellen Terry, Allie Beth Allman, Uptown Realtors, and RE/MAX About Town.
Our Historic House Specialists often go on to participate in other
Preservation Dallas tours and seminars, learning more about the city and making
new contacts. In fact, realtors play a significant role in our organization as
members, leaders and fundraisers.
