National 11 Most Endangered - Statler Hilton

National Trust for Historic Preservation Names the Statler Hilton Hotel to its 2008 List of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.

Washington, D.C. (May 20, 2008) – Today, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named The Statler Hilton Hotel in Dallas, Texas to its 2008 list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. This annual list highlights important examples of the nation’s architectural, cultural and natural heritage that are at risk for destruction or irreparable damage.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

  • If you are a resident of Dallas, contact the City Council to advocate for Dallas' historic landmark designation of the Statler Hilton Hotel.
  • Join Preservation Dallas and participate in MOD COM, a committee devoted to learning more about the history and preservation of post-World War II buildings, landscapes and sites. Information is online at preservationdallas.org.
  • Learn more about the Recent Past. (www.recentpast.org)
  • Modernist buildings in Dallas are often threatened.... including many smaller ones which may not be known by local preservationists. Be aware of other modernist buildings in Dallas and share this information with Preservation Dallas (www.preservationdallas.org).
